                               RESOLUTION NO. 21302
                  
                  
                   A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY FINANCE
                   OFFICER TO PAY THE FEES DUE TO FRANKLIN
                   ASSOCIATES ARCHITECTS, INC. IN AN AMOUNT NOT
                   TO EXCEED SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
                   ($75,000.00).

       	    	 WHEREAS, the City of Chattanooga and Hamilton County
       have entered into a joint venture to establish offices designed 
to
       minimize inconvenience to the public in obtaining building and
       other permits and have purchased certain real property from ABB
       Combustion Engineering, Inc. to carry out said joint venture; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional
       Planning Agency is overseeing the planning for this joint venture 

       on behalf of the City and the County; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional
       Planning Agency has negotiated a contract for architectural
       services for said building with Franklin Associates Architects,
       Inc.,
       	    	 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
       THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the City Finance Officer 

       be and is hereby authorized to pay the fees due to Franklin
       Associates Architects, Inc. in an amount not to exceed
       Seventy-Five Thousand Dollars ($75,000.00) in accordance with the 

       contract dated June 24, 1996, between the Chattanooga-Hamilton
       County Regional Planning Agency and Franklin Associates
       Architects, Inc.
